History of Public Relations Office at The University of Tehran

 

Established in 1934, University of Tehran is considered as the first higher education center in the country, as well as a center for promoting modern sciences. Because of its special place in the country, and in order to communicate the progress in the fields of science and research, University of Tehran opened the "Office of Press Relations and Publicity" as a step forward to the foundation of public relations. Then in 1950 the name was replaced by the "Office of Information and the Press". Finally in 1963 The Office changed its name to the "Office of Public Relations" managed by Mr. Mar'ashi which is now known as "General Office of Public Relations".

General Office of Public Relations works under the direct supervision of UT President and its General Manager is the UT President's Advisor. The Office is a member of UT Information Technology Policy Council, presided over by UT President which plays a significant role in adopting due policies in Public Relations, Informatics, Central Library and Electronic Schooling. The members of the Council are: UT Vice President in Education, VP in Research, VP in UT Plans, VP in UT Administration, General Manager of Public Relations Office, the Head of Informatics Center, the Head of Central Library, and the Head of Electronic Schooling.

The Office wishes to serve academicians and researchers, applying updated data transmission means.
